Cruises.co.uk survey reveals cruise ship beer prices

Core Facts

Cruises.co.uk have conducted a survey into the cost of a European style beer sold in a bottle such as Becks, based on 2009 prices. A bottle of beer bought in a local supermarket, such as Tesco, would typically cost around 66 pence per bottle. The findings of the survey show that a bottled beer on British ships is almost half the price of the same one on a similar style of American ship and most US ships charge more than even a low cost carrier like Ryanair, who charge £2.85. There also seems be other differences such as lower prices on some 5 star ships in comparison to 4 star ships such as Ocean Village and P&O.

Quotes

  • Commenting on the findings, Seamus Conlon, Managing Director of www.cruise.co.uk said: “Cruising is rightly seen as one of the best holiday options around, however prospective cruisers need to research fully the different cruise line offerings, both the upfront prices and the onboard costs. “Our web site endeavours to give our cruisers an overview of the true cost of cruising. It’s all very well having a cheap cruise but if you then pay double for a beer then you could be making some better decisions. We would encourage passengers to consider what they like when on holiday and consider this when buying a cruise. If you are unsure – we have over 100,000 regular users who can help answer questions on our web site.”
