Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim) is very pleased to announce that both the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) have upgraded their enterprise licenses to the exciting new VBS2 v2.0!
The multi-million dollar contract extension by the ADF includes VBS2 and VBS2Fires license upgrades, gold support, VBS2Fusion, and the revolutionary VBS2Strike for game-based forward air control training. The ADF have been employing VBS since 2005, when VBS1 was used to train soldiers deploying to Iraq. The ADF have been central to the evolution of the product, and most recently, the ADF funded the development of a range of amphibious simulation capabilities including the LCM-8 and Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) at very high levels of detail.
The NZDF has also been employing VBS2 for many years, and is a strong proponent of games for training. The NZDF recognises the requirement for a standard visualisation and virtual environment that can be reused, developed and shared across all services. VBS2 delivers fidelity and flexibility that is more costly in traditional military simulations.
Corporal Dion Climo from the New Zealand Army Simulation Centre said, “VBS2 is the most efficient virtual training platform for our soldiers. It is easily taught to those with minimal experience in computing and can be used to reinforce almost every area of military tactics, training and procedures from domestic to operational, at all levels of command. In addition it can be easily configured to work with other systems for experimentation/analysis and in my mind there is currently no rival to VBS2 in the military training arena. With the comprehensive support Bohemia Interactive offers, it makes sense to continue with what works.”
BISim is very proud of our working history and relationship with both the ADF and NZDF, and we are committed to delivering the highest levels of support to these key customers.
Pete Morrison, CEO, BISim, said “Both the ADF and NZDF have played vital roles in proving the potential of games for training, and it is very encouraging to see their commitment to this important technology over the long term.”
VBS2 v2.0 will be rolled out in the third quarter of 2012, and BISim looks forward to serving the ADF and NZDF for years to come.
