Cologne, Germany, 17 September 2012 – Canon celebrates photokina 2012 by unveiling an industry-leading range of products that combine outstanding image quality with cutting-edge connectivity. Demonstrating photography’s Power to Connect, Canon’s new range has been created around the concept of connecting people through beautiful imagery, with a range of input and output devices delivering outstanding image quality and seamless sharing functionality side-by-side.
EOS 6D – your entry into the full-frame world
The EOS 6D is a completely new addition to the EOS family, creating a new mid-level model that offers photography enthusiasts an ideal entry point to the full-frame world. Canon’s smallest ever full-frame DSLR and the world’s lightest full-frame camera[1] to date, the EOS 6D launches with an outstanding range of features, including:
A 20.2 Megapixel full-frame sensor in tough compact body – making it the ideal camera for travel, portrait and landscape photographers who want to capture as much of a scene as possible
Outstanding low-light performance, with a maximum ISO of ISO 25,600 – further extendable to H:102,400
Super-easy sharing with built-in Wi-Fi[2] connectivity, allowing photographers to wirelessly transfer images to computers, the cloud, or mobile devices
Built-in GPS[3], making it easy for travelling photographers to location-tag images as they are shot
Full-HD video with complete creative control – extend beyond stills, and make the most of the full-frame sensor by employing an extreme shallow depth of field
Project 1709 – all your images, all in one place
photokina 2012 also sees the beta launch of Project 1709, a new image management platform designed to bring a lifetime of images together. Completely cloud-based, the platform is compatible with all browsers, and provides a unique tool that allows photographers to access, organise and enjoy images from multiple sources in one simple place. Key features include:
The ability to manage of images over multiple platforms, including Facebook – with comments and tags pulled into the service so you can stay connected to friends while you use it. Images can also be uploaded to Facebook directly from the platform, complete with comments
A clean, tiled interface and easy searching that provides an intuitive way to find any image by name, date, or the device you used to take it
Tools to help improve your photography, with camera image data stored and displayed alongside each image – allowing you to see both the final image, as well as how the shot was taken
PowerShot G15 and PowerShot SX50 HS – next-generation lens design
The show also sees the unveiling of the new PowerShot G15 and the
PowerShot SX50 HS – two advanced compact cameras that demonstrated Canon’s expertise in lens design. The PowerShot G15 features the brightest lens in a PowerShot G-series model, with a new f/1.8-2.8 lens that provides photographers with an extra-wide aperture throughout its 5x optical zoom range. The PowerShot SX50 HS is the world’s first compact camera to feature an enormous 50x optical zoom[4], offering unrivalled power that’s complemented by advanced manual control and RAW format support.

Canon also unveils the latest model in the highly-popular PowerShot S-series – the new PowerShot S110. Combining a super compact body with advanced levels of image quality, the PowerShot S110 is the first S-series model to feature Wi-Fi connectivity – enabling users to instantly share their photographs online or with other wireless devices. Small and powerful, it includes a range of features designed for the advanced photographer, including:
Canon’s HS System, comprising a new 12.1 Megapixel high-sensitivity Canon CMOS sensor with powerful DIGIC 5 processing to provide high levels of image quality in all conditions – including low light
An ultra-wide, 5.0x optical zoom lens designed and developed using Canon’s unrivalled expertise – delivering sharp results throughout the zoom range, and when light is low
New GPS via mobile, an innovative way of tagging images with GPS data using a smartphone
PIXMA PRO series – power to impress
Following the launch of the PIXMA PRO-1 in 2011, Canon today adds to its PRO line with two new premium A3+ PIXMA photo printers – the PIXMA PRO-100 and the PIXMA PRO-10. Utilising core Canon technologies – both models feature advanced FINE printing engines with individual inks, integrated Wi-Fi technology and a stylish EOS-inspired design. Each is designed to provide maximum levels of image quality, with a range of features including:
10-ink pigment-based (PIXMA PRO-10) and 8-ink dye-based (PIXMA PRO-100) systems with Chroma Optimizer, making the new printers ideal for semi-professional and serious amateur photographers looking for outstanding quality when used with a wide range of media
Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity – both printers can be paired with multiple PCs, providing a high quality network printer, as well as the option to print wirelessly, or from compatible tablets and smartphones
New Print Studio Pro software provides seamless photo printing from Canon’s Digital Photo Professional and various Adobe Photoshop tools[5]. Additionally, it includes photo editing applications for greater flexibility to fine-tune the look and feel of final prints
PIXMA MG-series – power to print your world
Three new premium PIXMA printers produce photo-lab quality prints at home and boast advanced design features. Based on Canon’s FINE print engine, the PIXMA iP7250, PIXMA MG5450 and PIXMA MG6350 provide outstanding quality, alongside the ability to print a wide range of documents and images wirelessly. Key features include:
Superfast print speeds, compatibility with cost-saving high capacity XL inks, and a Snap Edge design for easy access to replace ink tanks
PIXMA Cloud Link support which includes Google Cloud Print, enabling Google Docs or Gmail attachments (JPEG or PDF files) to be printed on the go from any smartphone, tablet or laptop. Print from online photo albums, and enjoy convenient, cable-free printing direct from compatible stills and video cameras
The new PIXMA iP7250 is a document and photo printer with fast print speeds and Wi-Fi connectivity with support for tablet and smartphone printing
SELPHY CP900 – wireless photo printing made easy
In addition to new PIXMA models, Canon is also launching its most advanced compact photo printer to date – the SELPHY CP900. Designed for convenience, the
SELPHY CP900 is both portable and delivers lab-quality prints of varying sizes and layouts in less than a minute. Key features of the SELPHY CP900 include:
Integrated Wi-Fi support for wireless printing directly from smartphones and tablets via Canon’s free Easy-PhotoPrint app[6], and PictBridge via Wireless LAN for printing directly from compatible digital cameras
The ability to print in a range of formats and sizes on a range of SELPHY photographic media, including ID photos and the new square format stickers (5cm x 5cm)
Lightweight, portable design featuring a tilting 6.38 cm (2.7”) colour LCD housing a quick and easy user interface – making printing simple
Direct printing from a range of devices, including computers, compatible memory cards and USB flash sticks, for maximum convenience
