OutSystems Names 2017 Innovation Award Winners at NextStep Lisbon Conference

19 companies recognised at NextStep conference for excellence in digital transformation

London UK, 6th October 2017 – OutSystems announced regional winners of the 2017 OutSystems Innovation Awards at its recent NextStep conference in Lisbon. The company recognised customers from Portugal, Asia-Pacific, Africa, South America, and the United Kingdom that use OutSystems to build innovative applications and transform their business. Applicants were evaluated based on business impact and measurable IT benefits they achieved with their initiatives.

Overall, 19 companies were honored in three categories, displaying excellence in Customer Digital Experiences, Digital Operations, and Large Custom Systems.

CUSTOMER DIGITAL EXPERIENCES AWARDS
These awards showcase customers that are building engaging experiences across their customers’ journeys. These companies enhanced customer experiences by delivering engaging customer service apps, beautiful portals, and captivating sales and service apps all incredibly fast.

Prio Energy, a Portuguese-based distributor and marketer of liquid fuels, won the Scalability Award for building a customer portal that scales with the business, now accommodating up to 1,300 users.

Abreu Advogados, a Lisbon-based law firm, won the User Experience Award for building a new litigation app and customer portal to scale with the business, increasing customer satisfaction and improving process management efficiency.

Davies Turner, a UK-based air and sea freight company, won the IT/Business Collaboration Award for having business and IT collaborate tighter than ever on development of online portal for customers to monitor, manage shipments from beginning to end.

DIGITAL OPERATIONS AWARDS
These awards showcase implementations that rapidly enable digital workplaces. Winners include customers that deliver new mobile workplace apps, employee portals, workflow apps, and operational dashboards that support any process, no matter how complex.

The following companies were honoured in the Digital Operations category for generating significant business impact:

Wilmar International Ltd., a Singapore-based agribusiness group, won the Overall Business Impact Award with their enterprise app that shortened the approval process for agribusiness projects from weeks and months to 1-7 days for most initiatives.

Centricity, based in South Africa, won the Cross-Channel Excellence Award for building an app for IT services customers to run mission-critical parts of their business. Available as a web or mobile app, it boosted customer productivity and eliminated wasted cycles.

Bit-Sonae, the information systems unit of Portuguese retail company Sonae, won the Collaboration Award for transforming its business to a continuous delivery process, building on an OutSystems core and tapping the talents of 13 internal developers.

Refriango, an Angola-based food and beverage company, won the Change Management Excellence Award for creating a cost management app, providing end-to-end control of payments and visibility across its distribution network.

The following companies are being honoured in the Digital Operations category for displaying stellar innovation:

Surbana Jurong, a Singaporean government-owned urban, industrial and infrastructure consultancy, won the Business Transformation Award for replacing more than 50 legacy Lotus Notes apps, building new apps to run digital operations in HR, finance, billing and more.

Transnational Diversified Group, a Singapore-based multi-industry company, won the App Delivery Transformation Award, for changing its whole process of app delivery - cutting payroll transaction processing time by 65 percent and enabling the fast deployment of new custom HR apps.

Deloitte, a U.K.-based professional services company, won the Excellence in AI/Machine Learning Award for building an innovative AI and machine-learning app that helps customers streamline the process of screening for “conduct risk.”

EMEF, the main provider in the Portuguese railway maintenance sector, won the Digital Transformation Award for shifting from paper-based systems to a digital operations app, providing better access to information more efficient train maintenance process.

AOI Pro, a Tokyo-based communications production company, won the Most Innovative App Award for using OutSystems to develop core aspects of innovative ‘VR Insight’ tool that interprets viewers’ emotional responses to video content.

The following companies are being honoured in the Digital Operations category for exceptional speed:

Credibom, a Portugal-based financial loan services company, won the Process Innovation Award for creating in four months a web app to plan, track and control IT projects, enabling greater visibility into ongoing initiatives.

Luz Saude, a Portugal-based operator of health service facilities, won the Best Custom Solution Award for replacing paper- and Excel-based employee evaluation process, creating a custom app for 3,600 regular users in just three months.

NHS Practitioner Health Programme, a UK-based health consultancy, won the Speed and Transformation Award for delivering new online patient portal in just three months, serving six times more patients and controlling costs without increasing back-office staff.

Randstad Brazil, a provider of temporary staffing and other employment services, won the Game-Changing Solution Award for developing a video solution to interview applicants, meeting a 30-day deadline and reducing assessment time by 70 percent.

LARGE CUSTOM SYSTEMS AWARDS
These awards honour implementations that break the stalemate companies face replacing aging systems that are expensive to maintain and slow to change. These customers rebuilt large systems quickly and efficiently, taking advantage of fast visual development, easy integration, and rock-solid scalability.

Nova Cambios, a Lisbon-based financial services company, won the Time to Value Award for shortening the delivery of a new trader platform from five years to six months, centralising information and cutting transaction costs.

Randstad Portugal, a provider of temporary staffing and other employment services, won the Enterprise Integration with Speed Award for saving months of development time and delivering apps to replace billing systems and improve call center productivity.

Censea, a financial services firm in South Africa, won the Excellence in Financial Services Award for building apps to run internal operations in less than a year, evolving processes to adapt to fast-changing industry legislation in South Africa.

OutSystems will name more regional Innovation Award winners at its two other NextStep global events: NextStep Benelux in Utrecht, The Netherlands, on Oct. 10; and NextStep Americas in Chicago, on Nov. 2.
