BT’s Adam and Jane finally tie the knot - 480k votes cast as nation helps plan the ‘second biggest wedding’ of the year

Core Facts

  • 480k votes were cast by the public, via Facebook and text, to help plan BT’s Adam and Jane’s Big Day

  • Viewers will get to see the wedding dress, car and first dance chosen by the nation, when the advert airs on April 23, during the Britain’s Got Talent ad breaks

  • Over 69,000 people opting for the classic white vintage Suzanne Neville wedding dress, and over 128,000 people voting for the elegant Bentley. ‘Loving You’ by Minnie Riperton was the outstanding favourite for first dance, well ahead of the more energetic ‘Unbelievable’ by EMF

  • The nation was asked to help plan the wedding, via BT’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/BTUK.  This is the second time the country has been involved in the Adam and Jane story line – last August the nation voted for the couple to expect a baby

  • Tens of thousands of fans entered a prize draw to win the opportunity to attend the wedding as ‘guests’. The winners will appear in shots such as the groom’s speech and first dance

  • It is expected that 28 million people will see the wedding advert across the campaign, which is due to be first screened during a Britain’s Got Talent ad break

  • To celebrate the nuptials, BT is offering one lucky couple the opportunity to win a seven day trip to the Bahamas, including a dolphin encounter, on BT’s Facebook page

  • To coincide with Adam and Jane’s wedding, BT conducted research into how the UK feels about long standing wedding traditions. 65% still feel that a bride should wear something old, borrowed and blue. 49% believe that the bride should walk down the aisle in a white dress. 84% of people think that speeches are an essential part of any wedding. 89% think every couple who get married should have a wedding cake. According to the nation, the tradition which we are least likely to drop is going on honeymoon after the wedding

  • David James, marketing director BT Retail: “We’d like to thank all those fans that got involved in planning Adam and Jane’s wedding.  Over the course of the campaign, the Facebook fan base has grown hugely and the wedding has been the subject of much debate both online and in the media with lovers and haters, the paparazzi even got pictures!  We hope that viewers enjoy the wedding celebrations on the 23rd April”.

  • Competition winner, Alex Price from Redcar: “I really enjoyed being an extra, particularly during the filming of the first dance. Everyone was really getting into it. It was as much fun as going to a real wedding, and my family and friends are all looking forward to seeing me on TV!”
